Patrizio di Marco’ New Strategy

Under such low marketing conditions, all the world’s highlighted fashion and luxury brands, such as Gucci, Tiffany…suffered a extremely hard challenge.Recently, Gucci’s new chief executive officer, Patrizio di Marco has disclosed his strategy for the Italian brand’s future. Di Marco explained that, rather than introducing lower priced goods, his recession strategy is to focus on the label’s rich fashion history; refreshing goods made with the 88-year-old brand’s interlocking-G logo by adding crocodile and leather trim to higher priced bags; reintroducing classic styles such as the Jackie bag (named after Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis); and using classic motifs dating back to the Forties. Di Marco, who comes to Gucci from another PPR-owned company luxury leather brand Bottega Veneta, wants to balance contemporary fashion with the Gucci traditions, emphasizing craftsmanship and quality.
Presently, Di Marco’ revival chips was the Jackie bag by creative director Frida Giannini. Di Marco has nothing but praise for Giannini he is quoted by Bloomberg as saying that she “knows how to balance the fashion elements with Gucci’s heritage.” We wish they can bring us more accaptable products in such special time.
