LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton for short, is a French holding company and one of the world’s largest luxury goods conglomerates., LVMH Moet Hennessy - Louis Vuitton possesses a unique portfolio of over 60 prestigious brands. It contains the world’s leading luxury products, including prestigious champagnes, wines, cognacs and spirits, as well as luxury goods, luggage and leather goods, fragrance and cosmetics products, watches and jewelry. The Company is also engaged in the haute couture and fashion businesses. LVMH’s business consists of five principal business groups: Wines and Spirits, Fashion and Leather Goods, Perfumes and Cosmetics, Watches and Jewelry and Selective Retailing.

The LVMH group is partly owned by the Christian Dior group, and Bernard Arnault is Chairman and CEO of both companies. His successful integration of various famous aspirational brands into the group has inspired other luxury companies into doing the same. Thus Gucci (now part of the French conglomerate PPR) and Richemont have also created extended portfolios of luxury brands. The oldest of the LVMH brands is wine producer Chateau d’Yquem, which dates its origins back to 1593.

Now the Espace Louis Vuitton opened a fascinating new exhibition called “Silent Writings”, a striking encounter between ancient writings and contemporary artistic creativity. The exhibition runs until August 23, 2009. The inspiration comes from three mysterious tablets. They are “silent”, because their glyphic writing - in Rongo Rongo, the dialect of the aboriginal people of the Easter Islands, the Rapa Nui - has yet to be decoded.
