    FOUNDATION

Give a touch of something pearlescent to your foundation and you’ll achieve a modern and flattering look.

ADVICE: Apply your foundation to the entire face. Once it has been absorbed in to the skin, wait a few minutes for it to absorb, apply a small amount of illuminating powder in the T zone, forehead, cheekbones and chin. Blend it well with a brush for a pearly but natural effect. The result, light satiny skin.

    COVER UP

Brighten your look by using a light cover up which is lighter than your skin tone over your foundation.

ADVICE: Blend it well around your eyes with your finger tip to take away any excess. And that’s it, a great look without bags and full of life.

Look Good & Have Fun This Summer With The Perfect Beach Wardrobe

It’s that time of year when we pack up our bags and head to the beach for the day to enjoy those warm sunrays and the refreshing sound of the lapping water.

So what constitutes a good beach wardrobe. Well there are certain essentials that none of us forget. On goes the swimsuit and bathing suit cover, flip flops on our feet. Beach bag has been packed with the essentials – sunglasses, floppy hat, towel and a good book. Great – got the basics covered but what about the rest.

So if we are so prepared for a day at the beach, why is it by the time we get home we look pretty worn. Here are some helpful tips to make your day at the beach fun and keep you looking fashion fresh all day and all the way home.

  • To truly get your hands on designer clothes

Posted on August 19th, 2010 Fashionlife No comments

There are lots of places in the world where you need to look your best – and even though the beach is a place many go to relax, it is also important to have the best fashion you can while you are there. There are lots of things for you to remember as you are trying to find fashion at the beach. First of all, though, think about the costs of fashion, and remember that with the right coupons you can find great deals on all sorts of beachwear! It is important to have the type of look you are wanting, while not paying as much as everyone else.

    Attend Sample Sales

To truly get your hands on designer clothes, go to sample sales. Basically, these are selling events where reputable designers like Neiman Marcus and Sak’s Fifth Avenue dispose of their clothing for very low prices.

The clothes include samples of merchandise in the designer’s line, clothes with minor flaws and clothes that were overproduced from the current and past seasons. Therefore you will be fashionable and up to the trends without splashing your money!

Just make sure to check for the imperfections, as you will need to have them repaired yourself. You have to mentally figure out if the cost of repairs will be worth the final product.

    Watch Out for Store Sales

Department stores provide discounts on clothes when the new season comes in, which makes it a very good time to shop. Always be on the lookout for sales that offer big discounts like clearance sales; you can find great buys mixed in among those out-of-season clothes.

Remember don’t be embarrassed either about shopping in department stores when you previously shopped in exclusive boutiques of the same label! The dresses are the same, only the environment changes.

  • The fashion industry is constantly changing

There are a variety of things that a designer keeps in mind when they are making a new type of hat. Things that they consider are practicality, the appeal to the buyer, and the cost of the hate as well. While a beautiful hate is great, it will be of no use if the hat is too expensive to make and so uncomfortable that no one wants to wear it. When designing a new hat, the designer must keep in mind the specific audience that they want to market this hat to. Various marketing groups have different style and price preferences that must be considered. Designers that are successful are aware of various groups of people and what kinds of hats will please those groups.

Once the design has been decided, there are a few different steps involved with producing a new hat. The process will be dependent upon its’ intended production. Some hats are factory hats, in which there are many different copies of the hat made. Other hats are designer hats, and these hats are made in limited amounts for exclusivity. Then there are model millinery hats, which means that the hat is a one of a kind design that will never be duplicated.

Designer clothing has been around for decades and it is likely that we will see further developments in the future in terms of designer clothing.

The fashion industry is constantly changing, and with even the current trends at the moment changing, it is hard to predict exactly what we may see in the future. There are many directions that the current trend could take over the coming weeks, and then after that it will break off into further directions. What we do know is that the shape of the fashion industry is in the hands of those who choose new fashions. Fashion designers are always looking for new ways to improve and expand the current trends and designs, and as a result we are starting to see a huge range of ideas entering the field.

  • Do a fashion show/clothes swap

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 Fashionlife 1 comment

Who wants a Cosmo? With “Sex and the City 2″ hitting theatres, it’s time to get “carrie’d away” with the girls for a “Sex and the City” bash. Our fashion school experts have some party ideas to make your celebration particularly stylish and fun. So dial up the glamour and find your inner Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda with these oh so fashionable SATC party tips. Oh, and Mr. Big’s not invited.

Dress like your favorite character. A big part the fun of “Sex and the City” is the glorious fashion design. Each of the show’s women has her distinctive style, so channel your favorite character and work it! All you Carries out there might mix an avant-garde piece with a vintage find; try a men’s vest and tie; or wear a tank top and tutu like Sarah Jessica Parker wears during the opening credits. Samantha’s wardrobe is bold and sexy: vivid colors, animal prints and figure-hugging tops are at the top of her fashion list. She’s also all about the accessories, like big hoop earrings, designer bags and dramatic hats. If you’re more of the Charlotte type, think Park Avenue Princess: either a classic A-line dress, a matching sweater set, or a plaid or hounds tooth jacket. Then finish off the look with a headband and a string of pearls. And for you Mirandas, you can either go with a chic business suit or a sleek evening dress. (But don’t go for Miranda’s harried mom look with baby food stains on her sweatshirt.)

Do a fashion show/clothes swap. One of the highlights of the first “Sex and the City” movie was when Carrie put on a fashion show for her friends, trying on all her old outfits from her closet, and getting a “yay” or “nay” for each piece. Recreate the fun of that scene with your own fashion show. Ask each guest to bring two or three outfits they no longer want, and have clothes swap at the party. When someone finds a garment she might want, she tries it on, sashays down a “runway,” and everyone else plays fashion design critic, deciding whether she should take it or not. Any clothes not taken by the end of the party can be donated to a thrift shop.

  • When you hear the word fashion

Posted on June 23rd, 2010 Fashionlife No comments

When you hear the word fashion, you may think of skinny models on runways, strutting their stuff in an exotic locale like Paris. In reality, fashion is beginning to manifest in new and exciting ways that are accessible to more than models and the rich, and aren’t necessarily all clothing based. With new objects becoming as necessary as clothes, new opportunities to show your style are appearing all the time.

Cell phones, which only a short decade or two ago couldn’t fit in anything smaller than a duffel bag, are small, compact, and in most modern pockets and purses today. Their corresponding accessories have evolved from gaudy faux-gem crusted snap-on cases to sleek vinyl “skins” that can be changed at a moment’s whim. With screens getting larger and more detailed, the cell phone digital “wallpaper” business is booming as well, giving people millions of fashion choices to decorate their most ubiquitous gadget.

The humble earphone has also made quite a leap in fashion forward history. Once little more than a pair of grey earmuffs, tiny “ear buds” have become a huge hit, decorated with everything from skulls, to hearts, to tattoo-like freestyle designs. These buds sit in the ears, with a small decorative piece that sits outside, in the middle of the ear. They allow users to listen to their favorite music while showing off their favorite fashions.

Glasses are moving from their stigma as a medical device and enjoying unprecedented popularity as a must-have fashion accessory. More than just the sunglasses craze that gripped the 1990s, the fashion-savvy are now buying non-prescription glasses to highlight and accent their eyes and cheekbones.

When choosing your wardrobe, it is important to bear in mind that modern life doesn’t just look at clothes anymore. Check out your gadgets to be sure they aren’t clashing with all the thought you put into your look.

  • Clothing style goes side by side with the fashion

Posted on June 18th, 2010 Fashionlife 1 comment

Clothing style goes side by side with the fashion. It is the artistic ability of a fashion designer to design the clothes and bring it out in front of others. That design then spreads around in the society within no time. The style we pose by wearing different brand names come into fashion. People from different parts of society bring out clothing styles and makes it as a part of fashion in the society. Hence it leads towards the development of fashion industry.

The human ability to create different clothing styles provides options to others in making selection of the designs that they want to wear. That is why today, we can see different categories of clothes in males and females. The clothes range from casual to formal, trendy to semi-formal, traditional to party wear and so on. The demand of people makes the merchant to bring out something new and innovative in the market. For example in the women categories of clothing we can see gown, ball gown, evening gown, wedding dresses, Capri, long skirts, and most commonly pant and shirts. Though there are other numbers of designs to be found in the world. While in the category of men’s clothing there are pants and shirts, suits, wedding cloths, party wear, and dress codes that they are supposed to be followed for a particular occasion.

So consciously or unconsciously all these clothing styles become a part of fashion. As mentioned previously, women have varieties of gown for different occasions. So it also shows the rapid growth of fashion industry and taste of people in clothing style.

Fashion does not only mean to wear formal dresses or to look stylish. It does mean to create something, be innovative, and remain up to date. One should also be careful that, every cloth does not suit every one. One should try to adopt the latest fashion of clothing, however one should also keep in consideration one’s physical structure. Clothing is incorporated to fashion and fashion is not only about the style of clothing; but more important is that how particular clothing is worn and carried by that person (color combination or dress matching). Fashion comes and goes. It does not stay for all the time. Therefore, fashion is related to the way clothing is worn and the way we present it; is what we called as style.

Another significant aspect is that a person’s own dressing sense also contributes a lot to the fashion. Fashion includes clothing that is created by human beings. So following the latest fashion is not enough. Even an ordinary man can bring out the fashion if he holds good dressing sense. In addition to this, dressing sense is important in giving us some social roles too. This means to follow some dress codes. There are some dress codes in every society too. It varies according to the ethnicity, values, and culture. For example, as an ethic, the dress code for burial ceremony should be simple in any society (though the colors may vary), the dresses for any cultural event or social ritual would be different. For Halloween party or Christmas again there will be different clothing styles. So it varies from society to society. Overall the rapid changes in the world of fashion give us some dressing sense too.

  • When wearing a dress or blouse

Posted on June 18th, 2010 Fashionlife No comments

While dressing up for special occasions, women often neglect to consider how that article of clothing, shoe, or even an entire outfit is going to feel after several hours out on the town. Sometimes fashionable clothing can feel restrictive or uncomfortable, but thankfully there are a number of modern accessories that can help you look great and feel great at the same time.

When wearing a dress or blouse, you may find that the designer put a lot of work into making the outside look great, but the lining may not have received the same consideration. Nylon or polyester linings are the norm, but these do not breathe and can lead to chafing or becoming too warm while you’re dancing and having a good time. Investing in a simple cotton undershirt or slip can make all the difference, as cotton not only breathes, it also wicks away moisture.

Shoes are another problem area that will suddenly turn a great night out into pain with every step. Don’t use a special occasion as the first place to wear your new fashion heels, pumps, or flats out on the dance floor. Slide them on at home while you’re going about your daily chores to give the material a chance to “stretch” and shape to your foot. This will also be a great trial run to ensure that wearing those hot new heels won’t end in blisters. If you want to wear a pair of fashionable heels that you suspect will give you trouble, visit your local drugstore and buy one of the many new heel-specific foot cushions on the market. These slide into your shoe, can’t be seen outwardly, and will offer relief throughout your fun night out.

With these simple tips, you can make sure that your mind stays focused on having a good time, and not how much discomfort that little black dress or heels are causing.

Teenagers also like to show their individuality and dress in a certain way to convey their point of view. When we consider teenage fashion and clothing, one thing that comes to mind is as many separates as possible. This means that you get separate items of clothing and then wear them by matching and contrasting. This tends to be not only highly fashionable, but also makes a strong statement.
